Information
The latest Diablo 4 Season 14 patch changed the mood around Mythic farming, but it did not make Kurast Undercity a bad bet. The old issue with Mythic Tribute of Armaments was simple: at high Torment tiers, players could expect a guaranteed Mythic Unique. That's gone. The tribute now boosts your odds instead, so a run can miss. Still, players chasing D4 items have plenty of reason to stay in the Undercity, especially when they build their runs around extra chests rather than one promised reward.
Set up the run before you queue
A lot of wasted runs start at the War Plans screen. Don't just throw Activity Skill Points wherever there's an available node. The Undercity branch matters more than ever after the fix. The middle route is useful for improving Ancestral Tribute access, while Gutter Filth is the real prize for regular farming. It gives Grand Spirit Beacons a chance to call in Portal Pranksters. Those enemies are the reason a nerfed tribute can still produce a very good haul. A four-player group also makes the whole loop feel less expensive, since each person can bring a Mythic Tribute of Armaments for a rotation.
- Spend War Plans points on Undercity rewards first.
- Unlock Gutter Filth before burning rare tributes.
- Rotate tributes with four players when possible.
- Save fast clears for the highest Torment tier your team can handle.
Build reward upgrades early
Once the portal opens, the first job is getting Reward Upgrades to four out of four. You'll do that by finding Grand Spirit Beacons, lighting them, and deleting the Wrathful Spirits they bring in. Fast area damage helps a lot here. Spiritborn characters are popular because they move well and don't lose much pace while clearing crowded rooms, though any solid speed-farming build can do the work. Keep an eye out for Afflicted Monsters too. Their time bonuses matter during the opening districts, when the clock can still put pressure on the group. After enough kills, a capable party can keep the timer comfortably topped up.
Turn Pranksters into extra loot
The Cave, Ziggurat, and Temple sections are where good preparation starts showing up. Every beacon is worth checking because a Portal Prankster may appear. Don't leave one alive just to rush ahead. Each Prankster killed adds another reward chest at the finish, which means another roll at Mythic loot. That's the practical answer to the tribute change. Instead of relying on one inflated reward chance, the party creates several chances in the same run. The last stretch in the Chapel still needs focus. Blood Magus can punish lazy positioning, and Yoche the Golden demands steady movement, clean damage windows, and players who aren't standing in each other's mess.
Why the Undercity still pays
Torment XII Undercity runs aren't casual, and they shouldn't be treated like a quick solo errand. But a party that reaches maximum upgrades, clears every useful beacon, and catches its Portal Pranksters can still walk away with multiple Mythic Uniques. Players looking to buy cheap D4 items may value the same target-farming mindset, because the best runs come from preparation and repetition rather than hoping one tribute carries everything. The guaranteed drop is history, yet the Undercity remains one of the strongest places to spend a serious farming session.
